The Fantastic Instructors

Meg Yoast

Meg began dancing at age 3, studying under the watchful eye of a local instructor.  She continued dancing through adolescence, adding intensive study at Peabody Preparatory in Baltimore and then set off to study ballet at Towson State University.  She performed professionally with the Peabody Chamber Ballet, the Baltimore Opera Company, the Virginia Intermont Ballet, the Ballet Theatre of Annapolis, and the Baltimore Ballet.  Meg put her education on hold to be a wife and mother, while teaching dance on the Island and in Easton.  After many years of constant expansion from garage studio to antique schoolhouse, Meg with her husband Greg, bought a permanent home for The Dance Connection on Duke Street.  Meg returned to Towson State University and earned her bachelor of fine arts in Dance Education and is a certified teacher of dance, K-12.  She maintained a 4.0 g.p.a. while teaching full-time, running the studio, and maintaining a family.  Her husband Greg is always the “behind the scenes” backbone, but he gives her all the credit.  The Dance Connection continues to flourish and expansion plans are always in the works.  Meg feels truly blessed to be a part of so many young lives and loves to share her passion for dance.  Meg is a current member of DanceMaster’s of America, an association of dance instructors charged with overseeing the professional level of instructors in dance across the nation.  They conduct a strict battery of instruction and testing in order to credit this degree.  Meg serves as the 2nd Vice President for the Maryland Council for Dance, a non-profit educational organization working to promote, encourage, and amplify the growth of dance as a major art form in our state and surrounding areas by bringing together all areas of dance & the public to learn, experience, and enjoy dance. She is also a member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting standards of excellence in dance education.  Meg was been a member of the writing team for the Voluntary State Curriculum for Dance in 2004.
